Calling all volunteers — join us for for one or more spring cleaning events!
Parkway Pond Cleanup
We’re looking for a group of volunteers to help us with spring cleaning at the Parkway Pond. The Parkway Pond cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 22nd from 9am – 12pm. The pond is part of the Neabsco Creek Watershed. It’s located on property owned by Prince William County’s government. Litter flows into the pond from nearby shopping centers. We collected over 300 pounds of litter during previous cleanups.
Horner Road Cleanup
We are also looking for a volunteer group to help us clean up two parcels of land owned by Prince William County’s government along Horner Road. Most of the litter is near Marumsco Creek and a large culvert pipe. A group of around 5-10 could clean up these properties in 2-3 hours, and we’ll be working there April 22nd, too.
Community Development starts with you.
Cleanup projects are part of Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program. We like to engage residents and community partners to revive neighborhoods and make them safe, inviting places to live. Community development projects improve the health and well-being of the general public. They revitalize public areas, remove blight, improve water quality and generally give residents improved access to public areas and a better sense of well-being and safety.
