Linda Utting has lived in her Dale City home since 2006
She and her husband, Rick, were married for thirty-three years before he passed away in 2015. She has three adult daughters, Robin, Tracey and Amanda. Robin and Tracey now live out of state but Amanda, who has a disability, lives with Mom, along with a new pet, Lulu, an English Bulldog mix that Linda rescued. Linda hopes to leave the house to Amanda eventually.
Linda has led an active life
Linda’s career path spanned from the FBI to the Bakery & Confectionary Union to a position as an aide to Neabsco District Supervisor John Jenkins. She volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol and served as their Public Affairs Officer. She has served on the Special Olympics Board of Directors and volunteered at Gallaudet University. If she could, she’d still be flying airplanes (she’s flown solo three times) or she’d still be skydiving. But today she suffers from more than one auto-immune disorder that leave her weary and uncomfortable.
What Habitat Prince William will do
Extensive work is needed at Linda’s home to ensure that she and Amanda will be able to remain safely in the home. We will remove and replace the existing roof; and repair doors, the house’s foundation and chimney. We’re also planning to rehab the storage shed in the back yard so that Linda’s yard tools will hold up for years to come.
