Dumfries home needs a new roof
“When it rains, it pours”, it is sometimes said. For Katherine Stapleton, that saying has more truth than she might like to admit, since the roof of her home desperately needs repair.
Katherine was born in St. Kitts and moved to the States in 1997. She worked hard to support her family. Katherine had nine children; six daughters survive but none live nearby. Katherine worked in a souvenir shop on the islands, in a picture-framing gallery, cleaned houses, worked in schools and in retail. She realized her American Dream in 2007 when she bought her first home. In 2008, she lost her job. Katherine used her Social Security to survive until she found another job and now, at 71, she works part-time in the Prince William County School System to make ends meet.
The roof, however, desperately needs to be repaired and Katherine could use a helping hand. Habitat will replace the roof and fix the water-damaged ceilings. We’d love to have your help!
