Every gift makes a difference
Wudasie Retta believes in miracles. Your gifts helped her with one.
First, Wudasie awaited word from God before accepting the proposal of marriage from her husband, Tesfaye Abuye. Just a few years ago, prayer led Wudasie and Tesfaye to bring their family to America from Ethiopia through the Diversity Visa lottery. And shortly after she arrived, prayer helped her get through a diagnosis of breast cancer. Wudasie feels her prayers were answered once again when she and Tesfaye became Family Partners with Habitat for Humanity Prince William County to become homeowners. And that’s the one that wouldn’t have been possible without you. Your generous gifts helped Habitat for Humanity Prince William County purchase a home and rehab it with many, many hours of hard work from Wudasie, Tesfaye, volunteers and sponsors.
Wudasie and Tesfaye have three children. Kidus has a soul much older than his years. Kidus’ younger sister, Haleluya, cites with respect her older brother’s connection to their mother. Levi, the youngest, stays busy watching and learning from his older siblings. The three are happy with the back yard in their new home and having their own rooms where they can concentrate on their schoolwork. Both Kidus and Haleluya bring home exceptional report cards.
Now that they own their own home, Wudasie and Tesfaye have transitioned into new careers. They both worked at Wal-Mart when they arrived. But now, Wudasie has earned her Certified Nursing Assistant license and Tesfaye has received certification to drive a taxi.
