Maria Schuller is an 88-year-old retired widow who lives in the Manassas Park home she and her Maria Schullerlate husband purchased in 1956. Raised in Munich, Germany, Maria and her husband came to the U.S. in 1950 looking forward to a new life for their family. A mother of six, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of 10, Maria has developed macular degeneration and is legally blind. She has also had cancer and back surgery, which makes it difficult for her to get around like she used to.

Maria’s leaky roof has caused mold to form in her home, in addition to drywall and floor damage. Maria just paid for a new roof and because of that expense, is unable to afford the other repairs that are greatly needed in her home.

Before retiring, Maria was a foster parent, a day-care provider and a substitute teacher for many years. A member of the Manassas Women’s Club since 1990, she still enjoys raising money for community charities and spending time with friends and family.
