Born and raised in Lynchburg, Va., Dorothy Obenchain and her late husband bought their Manassas Park home in 1954 with a $200 down payment. Sixty years and “a bunch of grandkids” later, Dorothy still lives in their beloved home where they raised four children.
Dorothy heard about Habitat’s home repair program through her gas bill insert and gave us a call for a hand-up. A wall in her home has water damage and is not stable, presenting a hazard. Also, poor drainage in her backyard has damaged her rear stoop.
A member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church for sixty years, Dorothy still volunteers to help feed the hungry (she does all the cooking!), participates in community outreach with the Manassas Park Women’s Club and was named Citizen of the Year in 1986! We’re thrilled to have Dorothy as a family partner.
