Giving A “Hand Up” To One Who Is Used To Helping Others

Truly a native to the area, Geraldine Hogan was born in Waterfall, Virginia and raised in Haymarket. She married her true love, Willis Hogan, whom she met in high school in Manassas. Widowed ten years ago, Geraldine still lives in the Manassas condo she and Willis bought in 1974 and where they raised their daughter.

Geraldine worked for the federal government for 34 years and retired in 2000. Not one to sit still, these days Geraldine stays busy with the Hospital Auxiliary at Novant Hospital where she greets and comforts people in the reception area of the hospital twice a week. She is also involved in several ministries at First Baptist Church of Manassas, particularly enjoying her service as a Deaconess and her work with the Barnabus Breadbasket Ministry. Barnabus Breadbasket serves lunch to 50-70 homeless, elderly and others in need every Thursday. In the moments when Geraldine isn’t helping others, she reads avidly, particularly enjoying any novels by James Patterson and Sydney Shelton.

Geraldine’s meticulously-kept home is in need of weatherization to eliminate drafts from the windows and doors to the unit.
