And that just means new opportunities!
The walls in the back of the ReStore (where our offices will be located) came down last week thanks to our trusty construction volunteers, Arthur Butt, Dave Williams, Al Harris, Jean Schwab and Hao Dinh. We’re on the search for a few things we’ll need to build out the offices, including drywall, an HVAC unit, ductwork, windows, doors, flooring and more. If you are able to donate or have a lead, please call Tammy at 703-369-6708 or e-mail email@example.com. Once we have materials, we’ll be able to schedule volunteers to put the new, permanent office space together!
In the meantime, we’re planning for the offices to move to temporary space in the ReStore. On Friday, March 4th, we’re looking for three volunteers to take down the cubicles in the present-day office location. We are fleshing out the details, but we will likely have another volunteer opportunity on Saturday, March 12, to work on the temporary office space. We’ll keep you posted on the plans. On March 21, we need about ten volunteers to help us make the actual move.
We also welcome you to volunteer at the ReStore, too, to help us receive donations; clean, test and price product; merchandise the floor; help customers load their cars; be a greeter and checker and more. We can use some specialists, too, like people who want to put together and test electric fans or light fixtures; people who know their tools, housewares, china and antiques and can lend their expertise for pricing. There’s something for everyone and plenty of room for more volunteers!
New volunteers: work a half-day shift or full day shift. Work once a week or more. Schedule yourself on our Volunteer Calendar; you’re in control of the amount of time you wish to give. Your contribution of time is HUGELY important to Habitat for Humanity. Without you, we couldn’t provide our home ownership and home repair programs to well-deserving families here in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. We look forward to partnering with you!
