The oldest daughter of four girls, Karen Greene traveled the world while her father served in the Air Force. Eventually the family settled in Maryland. But, after college, Karen moved to Prince William County where she bought her Woodbridge home in 1983 and raised a son and a daughter. Now, her children have grown to adulthood and moved out of the house, but Karen’s three short-haired dachshunds, Theo, Honey and Lily, are more than happy to share the home with Karen.
A 26-year employee of Bank of America and 20-year employee of Fashion Bug, Karen was devastated when she was laid off from both jobs as businesses struggled over the past few years. Now working in retail part-time, she’s found it difficult to keep up with maintenance of the home. Habitat for Humanity will tackle exterior repairs including repairing drainage, replacing a small deck, sealing and painting the foundation, and clearing a densely overgrown back yard. We hope you’ll join us in giving Karen the “hand up” she needs right now.
